Mix Those Colors!

The other day we got together with our friends at a pottery store called Clay Dreaming. I have been intrigued by it whenever I drove by it so we decided to meet there and let the kids decorate to their hearts content. Every Tuesday, Clay Dreaming has Mommy and me hours where the hourly fee for each child is waived and the only cost is the piece of pottery that you pick out to paint. The prices for the pieces of pottery are very reasonable.

It should come as no surprise that the three of them each picked out a mug with a huge CUPCAKE on it to paint. It was really fun to watch them just paint and paint and paint and paint.

The best part about painting these mugs was seeing their creative sides emerge. Each mug looked totally different.

We then had a quick lunch where Oliver and his friend shared some private jokes.

Seeing Oliver and Adelaide giggle, smile and play reminded me of the magic of childhood. When you are four and three, everything that you do has a magic to it. Being a parent, it is sometimes hard to be transported back to childhood and be able to see things like painting a mug through a child's eye. It's okay though. What is important to me is that I am creating these moments for them that will make them look back at their childhood with fond memories.
