Ready, Ready, Ready...Ready to Run!

This past weekend, Oliver and I ran in our first race. It was a kids fun run and we were SO ready. The night before, we ate lots of pasta. Saturday morning, we woke up, ate breakfast and put on our exercise clothes. Oliver was so excited the night before that he could hardly sleep. I played it much cooler.

Here I am, getting ready to start stretching. I should probably mention that daddy was the one who taught us how to stretch before the big race. Stretching is NOT one of mommy's strengths.

We mostly just hung around and touched our toes.

Finally, we arrived at the big race! It was colder than we thought so I had to put on my sweater. When we first got there, we got our numbers and t-shirts. I would have worn my new t-shirt but it was sooooo long that it would have definitely slowed down my time. If Grammy had been there, she probably would have told me, "It's not how fast you run, but how good you look doing it."

I was feeling all confident. Until....about 10 minutes before the race. Mommy and daddy looked at me and knew that I was getting nervous.

Then Dzia Dzia showed up to cheer us on!

Yup, I'm STILL nervous.

AND....still nervous. I think I revealed a lot about my personality that mommy and daddy didn't know in the short time we spent waiting before the race!

Oliver couldn't have been happier.

Here's a smile. After a few practice laps I'm feeling like myself again!

NOW I'm excited!

I was in the 2 and under race. All of the sudden, a woman started telling the under 2 year olds to line up. Mommy went to the finish line and daddy tried to give me some advice. I didn't want to hear any of it because I knew what I needed to do. "On your marks, get set, GO!" And I started running!

Here is Oliver cheering me on!

I am running with all my might toward the May pole. Here I come!

I did it! I kept on telling everyone that I won. I guess in my mind I won :)

With my medal around my neck, I am ready to watch my brother in the 3-4 year old race.

Here he comes! He had to go down, touch the May pole and then go all the way back.

He had a great time and had high fives all around at the finish!

We were so proud of each other for running the race that we decided to hug! I love my brother and I know he loves me.

When we got in the car after the big race, we told mommy we were so hungry and really needed to eat some bagels with cream cheese. I can't wait until our next fun run!

What to Wear to a Royal Wedding- Toddler Style!

I decided to put my best wedding outfit together in order to celebrate the royal wedding. We didn't watch it, but I still decided that I am clearly suited to give fashion advice on this subject.

First, it is necessary to make sure to have a stylish hat. In my case, it was actually my Easter Sunday hat, but who is keeping track, right?
Second, a tutu is a MUST. Even if it doesn't match, who cares!

A one piece adds something to the whole presentation. The best part about accessorizing this look with a hat and a tutu is that you can just take them off and be ready to romp around anywhere...a wedding, a playground, the gym. I love rompers! I was very sad to take it off when mommy told me it wasn't quite warm enough yet.

Finally, what really matters is that you have fun! Life is way more entertaining when it is fun! Oh, and I have no shoes for this outfit because in my fantasy world I was picturing a sunny royal wedding on a beach. Ta Ta for now!

Easter Day!

When I woke up on Easter morning we headed downstairs. It quickly became evident that the Easter bunny had paid us a visit. We found chocolate eggs everywhere. Daddy told us that the Easter bunny left eggs wherever he was playing while we were asleep. We searched and finally found most of the treats.
We also had a few small treats in our Easter basket.

After breakfast, we went to church. Normally I go to the nursery but today was a special day...I got to join mommy, daddy and Oliver at the service. Well, about 20 minutes into it, I slightly bumped my head and started fussing. Mommy took me to the room in the back and started rocking me. Next thing you know, we were getting ready to get in the car. Yes, apparently I fell asleep. The nice thing about the room was that mommy could hear everything so she still got to enjoy the service.

Finally, it was time to head to Grammi and Dzia Dzia's house for Easter. They put so much time and effort into getting everything ready and we were excited to spend the day with them.

We came bouncing out of the car when we saw them and managed to get a quick photo before everyone else arrived.

Once the guests started arriving, the fun really began. Of of our cousins on mommy's side were there.

Trying to snap a picture with 4 children under 4 can be tough.

Then you add a 5th child and Dzia Dzia and it gets a bit more complicated!

After everyone arrived, the hunt got underway for eggs! Oliver was very focused and serious.

You know me, though. I had other ideas. My only goal was to have a fun time.

So what I did while everyone else was searching for eggs was put the ones I found down my dress and then picked them up again when they came out the bottom. It kept me entertained and really proved to be quite amusing.

Mommy snapped a picture of Uncle Matt.
Nonna and Papa made the trip from Cape Cod to have dinner with us. We hadn't seen them for a few months so we were glad they came.

My great grandparents, Mimi and Papa, have been married for 60 years!!! Wow. Truly amazing and beautiful.
Easter was so great this year!

A Bicycle Built for Two!

Aha! Now the helmet makes sense. I had been wondering all week long why mommy and daddy took me to pick out a helmet. At first, I thought it was to protect myself against my big brother. Then, I thought it was to wear when playing in the house and then I thought perhaps I should wear it to bed.

But, Saturday morning Oliver and I were in for one of the funnest surprises I could have ever imagined. We drove over to Grammi and Dzia Dzia's house and when we got out of the car, we heard the garage door open. I'm a little shorter than Oliver so I immediately saw the surprises. I started yelling, "a bike, a bike, a bike!" Daddy had come over the night before and put them together with Dzia Dzia. We went running to our bikes and hopped right on.

I really love my bike. I can't even describe it. I have been so proud of it. I've been telling people about it and I keep on asking to "ride" it. I can't really pedal yet but I have confidence that I will be riding by summer.

One of the best parts of the bike is that there is a seat for my baby!!! How great is that?

What a great way to start our day on Saturday!
